We Made Crystal Candy for Versace 💎
Yep. You read that right.
BAK’D made crystal candy for Versace.
Still a slightly wild sentence for us to type, if we’re being honest.
Recently, we were given the incredible opportunity to create custom crystal candies for a Versace pop-up at Westfield Sydney on Pitt Street, celebrating their Crystal Emerald fragrance.
And when you’re making candy for Versace… obviously it needs to look the part.
Creating Our Versace Crystals
For the event, we created a custom mix of beautiful emerald teal and clear crystal candies, designed to tie in with the colours and luxurious, jewel-like feel of Crystal Emerald.
Honestly, crystal candy and perfume might sound like an unexpected combination, but visually it made SO much sense.
Our candies already look like little gemstones, so seeing them displayed alongside the Crystal Emerald bottle was one of those moments where we thought…
Okay. This is pretty freaking cool.
Each batch was handmade by our team here in Melbourne, using the same process we use for all of our crystal candy.
We cook our agar-based jelly mixture, add the colour and flavour, allow it to set, then cut each piece by hand before leaving the crystals to air-dry for around 7–10 days.
That drying process is what creates the signature texture crystal candy is known for — a crunchy outer shell with a jelly-like centre.
And for this project, every little crystal needed to look worthy of sitting next to Versace.
No pressure. 😂
From Our Melbourne Factory to Versace
One of the coolest parts of running BAK’D has been watching where these weird little crunchy candies have taken us.
What started with experimenting with crystal candy has grown into a team, a factory, thousands and thousands of orders… and now our candies have somehow found themselves at a Versace activation in Sydney.
Seeing our handmade crystals sitting alongside such an iconic global brand was genuinely surreal.
Our team puts so much work into what we make — from testing colours and flavours to pouring, cutting, drying and packing every batch — so moments like this feel pretty special.
A Pretty Big Moment for BAK’D
We love creating candy that looks different, feels different and makes people stop and go, “Wait… what IS that?”
So being asked to create something custom for Versace felt like a pretty perfect fit.
And yes, we absolutely took approximately 400 photos when we saw the finished display. 😂
