My Interview with Fred Mafrica
Another very surreal Bak’d moment to add to the list… I was interviewed on The Couch TV!
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Fred Mafrica (via Zoom) for a chat about Bak’d, our crystal candy and the journey behind the business, and the episode is now live on YouTube.
For something that started with me experimenting with crystal candy at home, it still feels pretty wild to now be sitting down for interviews and talking about how far Bak’d has come.
From a little idea to Bak’d today
If you’ve been following Bak’d for a while, you’ll know there has been A LOT that has happened behind the scenes to get us to where we are today.
Bak’d started after I stumbled across crystal candy online and became completely fascinated by it. What followed was plenty of experimenting, trial and error, learning as I went and eventually turning this unusual little sweet into an actual business.
Fast forward to today and Bak’d has grown into something so much bigger than I ever imagined in those early days.
We now create our crystal candy from our Melbourne factory, have an incredible team behind us and a community of customers who genuinely get just as excited about a ridiculously satisfying candy crunch as we do.
And yes… sometimes I still have moments where I think, how did we get here?!
Sitting down with Fred Mafrica
Getting the opportunity to chat with Fred was such a fun experience because I got to step away from the day-to-day craziness of running Bak’d and actually talk about the story behind it.
As a business owner, you spend so much time thinking about what’s next.. the next product, the next launch, the next idea, the next problem that needs solving, that you don't always stop and look at everything you've already built.
Opportunities like this make me do exactly that.
And hearing myself talk about the Bak’d journey reminded me just how much this business has evolved, while still being centred around the same thing that made me obsessed with crystal candy in the first place: creating something people haven't experienced before.

A huge thank you to Fred Mafrica and The Couch TV for having me on and giving me the opportunity to share the Bak’d story.
And, as always, thank you to everyone who has bought a pack of crystal candy, watched one of our slightly chaotic Instagram videos, told a friend about us, left a comment, shared a Reel or simply followed along.
Every cool opportunity like this exists because you guys continue to support what we're building.
Here’s to many more pinch-me Bak’d moments to come. 💎
